Memorial Day weekend

For Memorial Day weekend we went with our friends Josh and Dana done the Oregon coast. Before making the trip, Anna made this peanut butter and chocolate cake for my birthday.

This was the first adventure with our new Nissan Cube. It went over the 1000 mile mark, so we are doing our part to make sure that it is depreciating in value as we work to make payments on it. Scout isn't comfortable with my driving skills yet, so he likes to keep an eye on the road.

We stopped in Astoria on the way down and took in some sights that were film locations for the Goonies movie.

Haystack Rock, also in the movie, a little ways down the beach from our vacation rental in Cannon Beach.

A nice, fresh sea breeze.

Survivor Cannon Beach. Having lost the immunity challenge, Hal feels that the dog alliance will stay strong and he will be voted out tonight.

Another view of Haystack Rock. During low tide you can walk out to the rock and look at tide pools.

Anna and Hal at a state park.

A unique lighthouse about a mile and a half off the coast.

Josh, Hal, and Anna on the trail.

Took an opportunity to sample some cheese and ice cream direct from the Tillamook factory.

Some Catan and drinks in the evening. Out of three games, Josh won two and Hal took the third.

Group photo outside of our vacation rental.
